Question 1

What is Better Execute?

Accepted Answer

Better Execute helps small and mid-sized businesses build the organisational capability to continuously improve how work gets done as AI changes what is possible.

AI is the enabler. Organisational capability is the asset.

Question 2

What is BEOS?

Accepted Answer

BEOS — the Better Execute Operating System — is our operating system for organisational capability. It is a discipline, not software. Three logics govern it: capability-first is the investment logic (decide what capability needs to be stronger before choosing technology), work-first is the discovery logic (understand how work actually happens before prescribing tools), and outcome-first is the evaluation logic (judge by sustained business outcomes and strengthened capability, not activity or AI usage).

Question 3

Why not start by choosing AI tools?

Accepted Answer

Because the tool is rarely the constraint. Most stalled AI projects were not stopped by the software — they were stopped by information nobody could reach, a process nobody had properly looked at, unclear accountability, or a way of working that never changed around the tool. Choosing tools first means paying to discover all of that afterwards.

Question 4

What happens on a Competitive Advantage Review?

Accepted Answer

It is a free 30–45 minute leadership conversation. We start with your business drivers rather than AI, establish what the consequence and urgency actually are, and give you our point of view on why the problem is larger than buying a tool. You leave with a clearer articulation of the driver, an honest read on whether it warrants action now, and a logical next step. It is a conversation, not a consulting deliverable — no capability map, competitive analysis or architecture comes out of one call.

Question 5

What is the AI Positioning & First-Win Engagement?

Accepted Answer

The standard first paid engagement. We align on the business driver, take a targeted look at one strategically important operating area, analyse where you are exposed or advantaged, select one meaningful First Win, then design it, build it, help the business adopt it and measure what happened. It closes with an Executive Readout carrying a 90-day and a 12-month direction.

Question 6

Is this an AI audit?

Accepted Answer

No — and not simply a proof of concept either. An audit produces an assessment and a ranked list of use cases, then ends where the difficulty starts. This engagement includes implementation, adoption and outcome evidence: something in your operation actually works differently by the end of it, and the planning that follows is built on what that proved.

Question 7

What happens after the First Win?

Accepted Answer

Whatever the evidence supports. Five outcomes are legitimate: run the next steps internally; use BEOS Guided when your team will lead with our method and support; commission another bounded project; defer until the timing is better; or, where Better Execute-led ownership is warranted, establish a Fractional AI Officer / BEOS Managed mandate. Three of those five do not require an ongoing Better Execute relationship.

Question 8

What is a Fractional AI Officer?

Accepted Answer

Ongoing executive accountability for systematically improving your company’s ability to exploit AI and automation — connecting business strategy to capability investments and better ways of working, and running a portfolio of discovery, design, implementation, adoption and measurement. It is not a generic AI adviser and not someone who arrives to deploy our products. It operates through agreed executive sponsorship, governance and decision rights.

Question 9

Do we need a CAIO to work with Better Execute?

Accepted Answer

No. The mandate is earned rather than assumed, and it becomes appropriate only once both sides have enough evidence to see a continuing portfolio of work. Most companies should not start there and plenty should never get there.

Question 10

Can we start with an AI planning session or a consulting engagement instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Leadership AI Planning Session is designed for teams already inside a quarterly or strategy cycle who want AI and automation connected to the business drivers already on the table. Management Consulting also stands entirely on its own — operating-model improvement, facilitation, discovery and adoption support, with no software from us required.

Question 11

Do we have to use DCE, your software?

Accepted Answer

No. DCE is one of three service lines. It is the execution platform we build, sell and operate ourselves, which is how you know we can ship and maintain real software — but engagements are built around your business, not our product. If your team already runs on a planning tool it likes, keep it.

Question 12

What is the Development Shell?

Accepted Answer

A customer-owned application foundation and coaching model for internal applications and AI-enabled workflows. Not generic custom development: the foundation, the application and the capability to extend it are yours. The AI Personal Assistant is a lighter entry into the same capability.

Question 13

What stays with us if Better Execute leaves?

Accepted Answer

The working practice, and the knowledge of how your company actually operates. We carry the build; you keep the capability. Anything we build specifically for you is yours on the terms of that engagement, and the Development Shell is customer-owned by design; platforms we license to you — DCE among them — stay ours, on their own terms. Engagements are designed to strengthen capability inside your team rather than to make us load-bearing.

Question 14

What is DCE (Dual Canvas Execution)?

Accepted Answer

DCE is an AI-native strategy and execution platform for leadership teams. It combines your company's strategy plan, org chart, Rocks, scorecards, structured meetings, to-dos, topics, and decision capture into one system — with AI handling meeting prep, scorecard rollups, and follow-through.

Question 15

How is DCE different from Ninety.io or Bloom?

Accepted Answer

Ninety.io and Bloom are digital versions of paper processes — you still write agendas manually, enter scorecard data by hand, and track follow-up yourself. DCE is AI-native. Meeting prep is drafted automatically, scorecards roll up without manual entry, and an Execution Advisor monitors your data between meetings. Same proven frameworks (EOS, Scaling Up, OKRs). Fundamentally better tool.

Question 16

Can I really be set up in 30 minutes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sign up, import your existing strategy doc or scorecard (paste, CSV upload, or build from scratch with the Setup Assistant), invite your team, and you're ready for your next meeting. No consultant required. No multi-week implementation.

Question 17

Can I import my data from Ninety.io?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Export your V/TO, scorecard, Rocks, and team data from Ninety.io as CSV. DCE's Setup Assistant maps and imports it directly.

Question 18

What does DCE cost?

Accepted Answer

Three plans: Growth at $12/user/month (core execution), Intelligence at $18/user/month (adds AI features), and Connected at $22/user/month (adds API access, agent audit log, and connectors). All plans are billed monthly. Free trial — no credit card required.

Question 19

Do I need to be running EOS or a specific framework?

Accepted Answer

No. DCE is framework-friendly, not framework-specific. It works with EOS, Scaling Up, OKRs, 4DX, or your own custom operating rhythm. If you're not on a framework yet, the platform gives you the structure to start.

Question 20

What does the AI actually do?

Accepted Answer

The AI drafts meeting prep documents before every meeting (scorecard summary, open topics, project status). It rolls up KPIs with variance analysis. It tracks action items and flags when priorities drift. And the Execution Advisor answers questions about your execution data — like having an analyst who knows your business.

Question 21

Does DCE have an API?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Connected plan includes a full REST API for programmatic access to todos, topics, meetings, scorecards, strategy plans, and more. Plus an MCP connector that works with Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other MCP-compatible AI tools.

Question 22

Is this a software tool or a consulting engagement?

Accepted Answer

DCE is a software platform. You sign up, set it up, and run it yourself — no consultant required. Better Execute also has two people-delivered service lines, Management Consulting and the Development Shell, and takes on Fractional AI Officer mandates. Those are entirely separate from buying DCE and are never a condition of it.

Question 23

What types of meetings does DCE support?

Accepted Answer

Weekly, quarterly, and annual meetings. Weekly meetings follow the L10 format with segue, scorecard review, project review, to-do review, IDS (Identify, Discuss, Solve), and conclusion. Quarterly and annual meetings have their own structured formats for planning and review.
